We trusted Nate Silvers 4 years ago. I say, “Phooey on him.” I’m not trusting any polls. Before the Iowa debacle, Biden was given a 25% lead….

Joe is my choice, but I’d vote for Buttiigieg or Bloomberg too. I hope you’re right about Biden winning those key states.

I would vote for the Devil if he ran against Trump. That being said, I think Biden has the best chance of beating Trump.I hope the dems don’t screw things up.

Those figures for median wealth are really shocking. Can they really be accurate?

I cannot agree with AM about term limit based on age. Doing this will rob the government of experience gained over long lifetimes. I have seen the results of losing such experienced people, and it’s not pretty

Excellent article. sad, but true. It’s like we’re living in the wild west in a town without a sheriff. Note that although the internet can be a wonderful source of information, BE VERY CAREFUL. There’s a lot of garbage and downright false information floating around there.

A well-reasoned posting. I couldn’t agree more. Just a thought, should there also be reparations for Native Americans? The whole idea of reparations seems like a slippery slope to me.

Fascinating. Don’t forget Myers-Briggs tests and aptitude tests which may at least offer directions and strategies to who we are and what we do best and how we learn it.
Marilu Henner’s brain must be wired in some incredible ways. I can understand remembering people, places, activities (all sight-oriented things), but dates? These are…[Read more]

Very, very sad. Almost like our friend Robert Barnes who has chosen to “live”in a nursing home where he has access to cable TV and the internet rather than actually work with a real doctor to regain the ability to get out of a chair or bed and be able to go home. I understand your malaise and feeling of hopelessness. I guess I’m almost with you…[Read more]

Maybe I missed it, but it seems to me you omit the very real importance of us ancients passing on the fruits of our experience to young folks. I saw the disasterous results of not doing this at the government agency where I worked. In a cost-cutting effort a buy-out was offered. Many employees with 20, 30 or even 40-years experience left. Little…[Read more]

I have long been concerned by the “undeification” of God. This can be seen in the use of small letters to refer to him vs. Him, by the use of the familiar pronoun “you” instead of an honorific one “thou.” and by putting us on a level with God like he’s just one of the gang. The same thing happened with the Old Irish gods. Deities that were…[Read more]

There is a lot of Buddhist theology in these commandments. Personally, I find them unsettling and egocentric. I stopped at # 2 and realize that going further would be futile, but I did it anyway. I simply do not understand most of these. Number 10 especially. “Don’t search”? Why on earth should we not search? Does this mean sit around under a…[Read more]

I feel the same way about baseball. Recently I watched our town baseball field slowly lose the bases, pitchers mound, and finally home plate to become a soccer field. Sad, very sad.

Great posting. I couldn’t agree more. It’s such a sad commentary on our society that we’re afraid to make physical contact to reassure, to console, to connect. What to do if you see a small child fall and start crying? Just stand by and offer verbal condolences? I have no idea.

Wonderful post! Yes, language rolls on like an unstoppable juggernaut, and we can only look helplessly as sounds change or disappear, treasured idioms disappear and words lose their meanings. I could fill a page with changes that sadden me. One I really dislike is the constant use of “awesome” for trivial things like a new dress or a Big Mac.…[Read more]
